Same format as for the Darts - if you want to play just turn up on the night.

Crisps and nibbles will be provided at both events but please bring your own drinks - soft or otherwise

BOXING DAY FOOTBALL

Twelve intrepid souls gathered to play, but I forgot to bring a ball.  Having returned home to find a ball (and the necessary bicycle pump to inflate it) we eventually started somewhat later than planned. This  may have been a blessing in disguise as it reduced the time available to play.
The idea of having a gentle kick-about was abandoned in the first minute when John Reed brought Peter Jordan down from behind with a splendid slide tackle which would have warranted a red card in the World Cup.  The combination of a muddy pitch and trainers made keeping one's feet a priority and introduced an element of uncertainty into the game, but some people managed better than others with Bryan Pearson proving a formidable goal-keeper - I hope this bodes well for the next game against Swaffham Prior which we hope to arrange shortly.  Despite the valiant efforts of the rest of my team my goal-keeping / defending is not as good as I remember and we lost 6 -2.  All those who played enjoyed the run about and worked up a good appetite for lunch and I hope the three or four brave spectators thought braving the elements worthwhile.

Will this become an annual event ?  This all depends on whether there is sufficient interest, but we have planned to hold a match on 2nd January 2000.  This could be in fancy-dress, perhaps as your favourite character from the last 1000 years, mixed teams in terms of age, sex or ability.  If you have any ideas or suggestions then please let me know.
