Editorial

I've got my crossword, and better than that it is being sponsored by "The Five Miles From Anywhere No Hurry Inn" and the winner will win a bottle of wine. So all entries to me 32 Great Lane, by March 5th 6.00pm, a draw will then take place on that Friday Evening at the Bottle and Can Evening to find the winner for Crossword Number 1. And may I take this opportunity to thank the staff at the 5 Miles for their kind support. (Page 9).
Since my last editorial we had a splendid New Years Eve Disco, Sorry about the noise if we were too loud, it was very well attended, but we will need more for the Millennium Night. (Page 10).
The Wine Tasting Evening was great everyone there thoroughly enjoyed themselves and thanks go to Richard Mynott for his tutoring. (Page 16). The raffle managed to raise £70 for the Out of Reach fund. We hope to hold another one in the summer for those of you who missed it.
We hope to have a Home Made Pie and Wine Competition on the weekend before the Fair so get baking and brewing you haven't got long before Fair Day arrives, details will follow later once we have organised ourselves!
You will notice from the Dates for Your Diary (Page 7) that the Friday Bottle and Can Evening before the Quiz Nights (Last Sunday of the Month) have been cancelled, it has been noticed that this Friday there are not many attending, so it was decided to cancel this one evening, in lieu of the success of the Quiz Nights. If this issue gets to you in time the next one is January 31st. 8.00pm or I'm afraid you'll have to wait until  28th February for the next one.
Continuing on the Friday Night theme can we have some suggestions from you on themes, we have the darts and table tennis nights to come and we have had the wine tasting and of course the New Years Eve Disco, what else would you like to see, we can arrange most things!! Please contact me with your ideas.
Many thanks go to Jemma Mynott who has started us on a soap "Alien from Space Lands on Earth" (Page 6). Of course when Jemma has finished her soap then one of you is going to have to supply another one so start writing. Now it's started it can't finish!!
For those of you who like your Sunday afternoon stroll along the Lode or down the Drove I have been in touch with Countryside Access a department of Cambs County Council about the state of it, and they have informed me that they will look into it!!. If any other interested parties would also like to contact them telephone Shire Hall and ask for Countryside Access.
There is no mention on the progress of The Kings in this edition, but I have been in touch with the committee and they have asked me to tell you "everything is still in hand and is moving forward."
That's it for another issue, don't forget Fair Day on May 3 get your cakes baked and I will speak to you again in March.                                                                        Dave
