It's the last Out of Reach before the fair, so again I must ask on the committees' behalf for as much help as you can all muster before and on the Day to make this day as successful a day as usual, even if you can only spare an hour, every little helps. The committee are all mentioned on page 11, please contact one of them.
As you can see we are trying to start a children's achievement page  the Mynotts have started it so lets keep it going with some other input. Talking of achievements congratulations to the King's Ladies Darts Team who won their league this year, well done girls.
I have included this time an article from the Weekend Telegraph ( 21/3/98) about pubs for sale I thought this was topical especially as William and Dottie were mentioned. One thing does trouble me though. "They rarely use the local preferring to socialise in the towns where they work" OK fine, then I ask you do they drive home ??? if the drink drive laws are tightened even more then they will have to drink in their own village won't they ?. I do not want to keep on about the Kings and weather it will be sold as a pub or not, but I do hope that which ever way it ends up, it will not be a battle but a transaction amicably agreed by both parties.
There is another one of those odd anagrams again this month. I am however running out of ideas on this front so could someone please take this on board and submit a few for the magazine it would be greatly appreciated. Sue has done this months Word Search for a change and can anyone out there produce crossword puzzles I would think one every Out of Reach would go down extremely well. Any other ideas ?  come on lets make this a Village magazine to be proud of and the talking point of the area.  Don't forget next inclusion deadline date is 15th May.
Did you all see our Police helicopter on Sunday last (22/3/98) they seem to be buzzing us quite a lot now. They are attempting to stop the hare coursing that is very prominent at present. Most Sundays whilst having a fish I get interrupted by those 4 wheel drives with dogs zooming down the drove. Please stop them before they arrive and disturb my peace. Phone all vehicle registration numbers, colour and makes of cars to the police if they look as if they are involved.
Well here's hoping for fine weather, some good food and drink and a trouble free day on Fair Day.
          Dave

A Note from Alan Trower
Alan Trower, the previous owner of The Kings, has asked that we point out that during his tenure, turnover at the pub was 'substantially higher' than 120 barrels per annum - the figure quoted at the public meeting as being the Greene King consumption at the time he and Sally sold the pub.
