Dear Friends,

CRACK A FEW EGGS!

It is good that we continue to use the symbol of new life, an egg (albeit in chocolate form usually), to remind us what Easter is all about .... the new life conferred on humanity for all time, through the power of God's Holy Spirit, of the Risen Christ; death does not have the last word at the end of our lives, nor during our lives, as we are constantly lifted from being enslaved by our darker side, set free for fullness of life. While mere stating of it might fail to strike a chord, let me reassure you that to really live a resurrection life, in faith, is the most liberating and fulfilling path of being; functional existence becomes purpose.

But let's return to the eggs, real ones. You may know the saying 'you can't make an' omelette without cracking a few eggs'; so it surely is with us. The new life remains contained, unborn, if the shell is not broken. We need to break out of old shells of existence, old habits, old thought patterns no longer benefiting either us or those we serve. As the King of Earth and Heaven was no longer contained in the tomb, so we need to roll the stone away that blocks us from life itself.

We hope to have an Easter Egg Hunt, after church, at Swaffham Prior, for the children on Easter Sunday; the morning service is as usual at 11.00am, bonnets are not obligatory. The service in Reach that Sunday is at 8.00am.

Wishing you and your family a very Happy and Joyful Easter; 'Alleluia, Christ is risen'
'He is risen indeed, Alleluia!'
                                  With love,    Mark

PS The Easter Vestry and Annual Parochial Church Meeting takes place in the church on Tuesday 28th  April @ 7.30pm, reports and accounts will be available, in a pack, in advance of that date, from the table at the back of church, please come in and take one, and come to the meeting fully informed, with any questions. At the first part of the meeting, we need to elect two churchwardens Ann Fuller and Norah Smith having already indicated they are willing to stand again.

The hope is that another two deputy Churchwardens might also be elected, to share the commitments, underpinned by the Parochial Church Council (comprising 8 members, to be elected)

To vote for PCC members and on any other matter, other than election of churchwardens (for which you need to be on the civil Register of Electors), you need to be on the Church Electoral Roll forms are on the table in church, and a notice, with further information about dates, is on the church door. We hope to see you at the meeting.
