OUR WOOD
Take a handful of sunbeams and throw them in the sky
And see them outline the morning clouds as they drift slowly by
See the mist rising as the sun begins to warm
And watch the hawk hover, as it spots the moving corn
See the rabbits running ready to retire to their earthy bed
And see the sun now rising with its different shades of red
Feel the gentle breeze, as it stirs the growing grass
And see a gaggle of geese, as they fly swiftly past
Here the pheasant calling as it leaves its nightly perch
And watch the blackbird rushing round on its early morning search
The trees are all standing bare , no leaves can be seen
But at the end of the new branches buds are showing green
So if you want to share this time and I really think you should
Take a pleasant walk with me through our newly planted wood
Bill Estall January 1998

Reach Back in Time
March 1977 letter received by Mr. Woollard 2.2.72 from B. Oldridge. Regarding bridge it seems that this bridge is built to take twice the axle loading permitted.
April 1972 The railway bridge in this issue again this month. Meeting to be held with a county engineer, villagers still not satisfied that the bridge is safe.
