Dear Villager
My family bought The Kings for a family home and so that we both could have a job as I had been made redundant in my last job. We never expected to become Rich all we wanted was a reasonable living for the effort we put in (80-90 hours in a week), but instead of making any money we lost, due to economic recession.
We continued losing so that it got to a stage that we had to be bailed out by my family. It has now got to the stage that we can see no future. The reasons are the increasing costs from Government in the form of taxation, greater interference from Europe in the form of Environmental Health, which by the way we have been recently given clean Bill of Health by, also we will be affected by the stricter Drink Driving laws, these will affect mostly the destination Pubs (which The Kings is), 98% of our trade comes from out side the Village.
I know a number of you do not want The Kings to close, but I expect that not any of you would not want to lose in excess of £30,000 on the sale of your family home. Le Committee seems to think that this arrangement would be acceptable, and expect my family to lose out. In order to retain a facility that nearly half of the Village have not used in the 5 years we have been here. Some of you use The Kings 2 or 3 times a year, some on a monthly basis, but their are very few who use it regularly and frequently, we are truly sorry for those people who have supported us over the last 5 years.
When we heard that the Village would try to buy, we welcomed the idea and tried to assist. This has now been thrown in our face too often and had our name smeared by certain people. Which we do not want or need, as this extra stress has now caused my wife to be ill for the last 6 weeks.
What the latest Le Committee report forgets to state are the facts that we gave Le Committee First Refusal for 2 weeks, but due to certain people being away nothing happened for the first week, they came back and asked for their partner to come over the property with a builder the day after the deadline was past. I stated that as I had made my promise to the prospective purchaser that I would have an answer for him by close of business in the Friday this was unacceptable, I made the offer that was available from 10 am until midnight for him to view, but this was not taken up. By the deadline the offer had been increased to £130, 000, as we were unable to contact the buyer we said we would include fixtures and fittings and any stock that was on site on completion and reduce the price by £5,000 so in all we were putting in some £12,000. We got back the impression from Le Committee that the last offer was final so it seemed to me that there was need to put my family too further inconvenience as the offer was wholly unacceptable, unless the offer was made nearer an acceptable level.
We have NEVER said that their partner was not welcome!! As his money is as good as anyone else's. We are both saddened by actions of certain people, which
