Now that the cards and decorations have been gracing the shops for what seems too long already, we have to think once more of those who qualify for the Christmas grant.

As usual, the majority of those eligible will be our pensioners, but the Trustees are always happy at any time to hear from, or of, anybody with special problems. So, if you think you qualify for a grant, or know of anybody with particular needs, apply in the first instance to the undersigned or any Trustee.

It will help if requests are made as soon as possible, and certainly by the end of November. Nobody will lose a grant because of a late request, but it may mean that payment cannot be made until the new year.

Yours faithfully,
S.G.Hewitt

An eccentric French woman, Madame de la Bessa, left a fortune in her will to provide clothes for snowmen.

What do slimmers sing at Christmas ?
  A weigh in a manager...

Sir Issac Newton, Humprey Bogart, and Princess Alexandra were all born on Christmas Day, and the comedians W.C.Fields and Charlie Chaplin both died on
Christmas Day.
