OIL

Firstly, if you are worried about having your oil stolen, then click on this link to get some very useful advice from the Police.

As regards purchasing oil I suggest you . . . .

1. Phone each supplier in no particular order - other than leaving Browns until last.

2. Ask for their cost per litre (they all seem to quote excluding VAT so all prices will be 5% higher) and always ask about their "price break points" to buy the optimal amount at any time (better to buy 750 litres at a cheaper per litre price than buying 700 litres at a higher price).

3. Having established the lowest cost supplier call Browns and buy from them if they can match, or at least get close to the lowest price (we should support local suppliers).

4. Depending on the oil price trends, either fill up your tank or just buy the optimal amount to keep going.

You can also monitor the oil price by going to a website called Boiler Juice (click this link or their logo) - they have a chart which allows you to see the trends. You can also type in your litres requirement and see what prices they can offer (my experience is that they are normally higher than those offered by the supplier list above - we normally benefit from Browns being so close).

If you have other suppliers that you use then please let me know and I will add them to the list - and any thoughts and suggestions would also be welcomed.
