Editorial

 {short description of image}

The New Millennium is here at last, now we have all learnt to spell that word we can forget about it for another thousand years and concentrate on learning to put a 00 on our cheques instead of the easy 99. Right now the rambling has subsided it’s time to get this editorial on the road.

Welcome again to some more new arrivals in the village don’t forget Reach Fair on May 1 we will need your help!. Talking of Reach Fair I think we are all aware by now that this is the 800th fair, and the committee are working hard to make this one bigger and even better. If anyone would like to help then I am sure the committee will welcome you with open arms especially for helping on the day itself. Don’t forget that weekend we also see the Wine and Pie competition, so here is your early morning call to get brewing and baking. I will remind you again about this and other events in the next issue.

I was out for a walk the other day (yes I do sometimes!) and I was amazed to see the Hythe all churned up again, I thought the repairs last year would have lasted longer than that. I assume the sewage lorry is still having problems getting down to the works. If anyone does still park in the lorry’s way could you please try not to, so the edges can settle down and the grass grow. (It was seeded wasn’t it). I would imagine that if the Highways come back again to look at it they will say “Yellow Lines” and then of course a Traffic Warden’s job will be advertised in the Out of Reach. Oh no!!!.

Thanks Sophie for the Millennium Dome word search, just one point, could we please try and restrict the searches to 16 x 16 as anything above that gets a bit difficult to get on a page. But do keep sending them in I know everyone enjoys doing them. I am still after people to send in pictures for the front covers, believe it or not trying to find a suitable picture is one of the hardest bits to do when putting together the Out of Reach.

Calling all Reach Ladies take a look at the notice on page 8, it was a great success last time and now it’s time for another ladies night out. Thank you Karen and Janet for organising these I know they are very much appreciated. On the food front Phil is arranging a Valentine Night’s meal and of course a Mother’s Day Lunch he has asked for people to book early to avoid disappointment and allow him to have an idea of numbers for these dates.

You will see on page 21 a Beer Pump Clip, we are having our own beer for the fair named The Devil’s 800, what we need you to do is design that clip, the picture on page 34 is the correct size so either you can cut your Out of Reach (Oh yes!!) or trace it out and get your design in to Phil before the deadline of Quiz Night in February (27th). Come and join us for the quiz nights last Sunday in the month 7.30 pm in the pub, we have a great laugh and a lot of fun, especially when one disagrees with my answers. (The quiz master is always right! ok half a mark!!).

Well that’s me done and dusted for the first edition of the new Millennium and I promise that I will try my hardest not to use that word again. Bye for now.
