Our Pound

Do we really want to scrap our pound.? Like some say
We should
And do they honestly think this would do us any
Good?
We lost out on decimalisation, and to me this is very
Plain
If we scrap our pound for the URO, will we lose out
Again?
Would we become just a small part, of a great big
Union state?
And see our very identity lost, in every decision that
They make
Will we be lost forever, like a black hair on a black
Cats back ?
Because once we accept the URO there is no turning
Back
Do we want others to make our laws, and tell us what
We can do
And what will we be known as, if this all does go
Through ?
Perhaps we would be known as the thirteenth state with
No mind of our own
Will we have to toe the line, and lose all the freedom
We have known ?
We cannot trade in pounds and ounces, and our liquid
Measure is down the drain
And we have to work in metric, and to some this is
A pain
So we must remember always the terrible wars that we
Fought
To secure the freedom of our land, sea and air, and how Dearly this was bought
So we must think very carefully, if we ever come to cast
Our vote
Will this be to our advantage, and once in will we able
To cope
And we must listen to what our elected leaders tell us
And hope they know the way
But I’m afraid that we can only believe in half they do
And even less what they say
As our home is no longer a island, surrounded by the
Sea
The channel tunnel has destroyed all our protection, And we are no longer free
