and the committee are in the throes of planning again. Car parking is a major problem as usual and we don't want a repeat of last year's village closure. Any ideas will be welcomed. Also offers of help on the day and with the preparations will make a big difference to the committee's mental and emotional health, not to mention the success of the BIG DAY. If you can offer even just an hour to relieve a stall holder, that will be most appreciated. Please contact your nearest committee member with such offer you will find the list of members in the last Out of Reach. Thanks to all who donated wine, mince pies, raffle prizes and your singing skills to the Carol Evening last December. It was a very jolly evening and we will be booking the CSD band for next Christmas. Before then you can hear them at the Songs of Praise service on the Sunday of Fair Weekend. |

IMAGINE OTTERS...................... Imagine otters playing on the banks of our local rivers. Barn owls flying across local fields and meadows. These need not be dreams or television images. They are becoming a reality. The Wildlife Trust is dedicated to a countryside where our most threatened species can prosper in the years to come. You may have seen, in past issues, details of events and activities arranged by the Trust. You can help maintain some of the local nature reserves or get involved in providing habitat for endangered animals and plants. For the less active, there are guided visits to reserves and presentations on a host of topics as well as courses on rural crafts and skills. The Wildlife Trust is a charity based in Trumpington, near Cambridge, with over 10,000 members. It depends on membership subscriptions for much of its funding. The more members we have, the greater the influence we have on the shape of our countryside. When you join the Trust, you will get regular magazines and information about all events in the area together with details of all the reserves managed by the Trust. Many of these are precious wildlife sites such as ancient woodlands, wetlands and wildflower meadows where you can walk in tranquillity. Some may be on your doorstep, some only a short distance away. If you would like to join the Trust, please phone Sue Magee on 01223 846363 or write to her at The Wildlife Trust, FREEPOST CB25 l, Cambridge CB2 2BR. |
