Out Of Reach - Oct / Nov 1976

The parish Councils efforts to get Reach, Swaffham Bridge repaired have resulted in the erection of a fence to make it safer, as a alternative to removing it all together which would cost £19 000

Shire Hall Tit Bits

The parish Councils of Reach and Swaffham Prior, with my support have been urging the removal of the Reach Road Railway Bridge, as the steady deterioration of the structure, with help of vandals, has made it a potential danger to traffic and pedestrians, The County Council, which is shortly to take over the Bridge from British Railways, has a cash problem, and is only able, at the moment to do very temporary patching. Geoffrey Woollard County Councillor

Letters

It is a pity that a potentially lovely village like Reach, should be in such a lowly position in the

Best Kept Village Competition.

The Parish Council and the District Council will help as much as they can to keep public places in good order, but both need the co operation and support if we are to achieve better things next year. Margaret Cook District Councillor

Paul Robinson 14

I am against the best kept village competition as I think each village should have its own character The competition seems to pressurising people who have rambling gardens to turn their overgrown but pleasant gardens, into botanical wonders, if we are to have a Best Kept Village Competition we should also have The Most Characteristic Village Competition, then Reach would come out on top.
