It’s the Reach Fair issue again, don’t forget I will be round for your full bottles of wine, orangeade, mixers, in fact any drink for the bottle stall sometime in April so please have something ready as I get confused to where I have been and haven’t when I have to come back to you. Don’t forget the fair Sunday night quiz, questions as easy as normal, and the pie & wine competition on the same evening.. Get baking and brewing so we have more to judge this year. Help is still needed so please see an organiser and register your help even if you can only afford an hour or so with setting up or taking down it will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks go to Maisie Whitehead and Iris Morris who have given me some pictures, and sketches for Out of Reach, I have used a sketch from Iris this time, of course I still want more especially from the youngsters of the village, I remember once when a young lady named Gemma wrote a serial for the magazine how about someone else trying it. Thanks also to Bill Estall for his poems during the year and now his old Out of Reach page, it’s great to have this included every issue. Tony Kohlman’s crosswords are also greatly appreciated even though I am doing some myself now at the moment. You might be wondering what I’m leading up to well I’m not resigning yet. I’m pleased to announce that for the second year running we have been highly commended as a village magazine by the Village & Community Awards sponsored by the Cambridge Building Society and the Cambridge Evening News. Apparently more letters and some controversial issues will help to get us up into the winners or runners up enclosure, so lets start having input from you, letters, articles, soaps and anything else you can think of the more I have, the better we will be. Let’s go for the top next year. Remember all contributions are greatly received. (Copy of the certificate is on page 11).

Once the new community room is built in the village hall we can get the certificates framed and hung in pride of place on the wall and next year add the winners plaque to them.

Congratulations to Joyce Harrison on her new years honours award by the Evening News, it was very well deserved, thanks to those who nominated her, let’s try and have a few more next year. I’m sorry I didn’t included this in the last issue but I was not given any details until the other week about it. Anyway I feel I have redeemed myself now.

The photograph on the right is of maypole dancing at Reach Fair many years ago do you recognise anyone in the picture it would be great to put some names to the faces. Let me know who you think they are.

That’s another issue put to bed as they say and it only leaves me to wish you all a happy Easter and a great fair day, let’s hope the weather is as kind to us as it has been in the past. See you all at the fair.
