Reach Fair May 6th 2002 |
Despite the poor weather early in the day there was still an excellent turnout for this year’s Fair and thanks to everyone’s efforts we raised over £6,500. A breakdown of the income and expenditure for this year and last year as a comparison are included in this issue of the magazine. The money raised from the Fair is split with 75% going to the Village Centre and 25% to the Reach Amenity Fund. The amenity fund is controlled jointly by the Parish Council and Reach Village Centre and is there to support any good causes in the village. Any ideas on how this should be spent please let us know. The Village Centre accounts are fairly healthy at present and we are, subject to getting reasonable quotes, hoping to rebuild the front part of the Village Centre to provide improved toilets (including a new disabled toilet), better storage and a new community room. We have planning consent and plans are on display in the Village Centre. Once again a big thank you to all who helped at the Fair, although (whinge time) a little more help setting up and clearing up after the Fair on the Tuesday would be very welcome. Special thanks for Phil for supporting the Fair in particular for sponsoring the quiz night (warmer weather next year please), donating a meal for two in the prize draw, for letting us use part of the marquee on Fair day, controlling the drinking and not forgetting the generous donation. Apologies to all on the tea tent for initially reporting a downturn in profits when in fact they were up. Planning for next year’s fair will start in September so please come along to the meetings (Fair meetings 2nd Wednesday of the month, Village Centre meetings 3rd Wednesday of the month) and let us know what you think. The prize draw winners were: Colour TV Thomas Trull, Cheveley Meal for two at The Dyke’s End Susan Bailey, Reach Wild Tracks Vouchers J Hodgson, Burwell M&S Vouchers Richard Wall, Girton Duxford Vouchers Zoe Chamberlain, Burwell Tesco Vouchers Isobel Graham, Cambridge Chocolates Paul Reader, Soham Andrew Hall (Treasurer) |
