Dog Fouling

£1000 fine if you're caught

Now the Reach playing field is up and running it is time to make sure residents know the rules regarding dogs. There is a sign on the gate at the entrance to the play area banning dogs but common sense should tell us that they should not be allowed to run free on the playing field itself.

It is against the law to allow a dog to foul anywhere inside a 40mph zone, i.e. anywhere in the village - verges, Fair Green, playing field etc. This rule applies whether there is a sign telling you this or not. If a dog does 'perform' the owner must pick it up, bag it and dispose of it. If the owner is seen and challenged (and anyone can do this) they may refuse to comply with regulations. They can then be taken to court and face a fine of up to £1000. The challenger does not have to get involved - a phone call to the dog warden at East Cambridgeshire District Council is all it takes and she will do the work for you. Should you see someone but not wish to challenge them directly she will approach them for you and advise them accordingly. For help contact:

CAKE STALL CAKE STALL CAKE STALL CAKE STALL

After weeks of baking prior to the fair and with all the wonderful donations which kept arriving on the day, the stall was filled to bursting point with cakes. By the end of the day the cake stall had raised the £595.

Rita and I would like to thank everyone who helped the cake stall, either by baking cakes or buying them. Without you this magnificent amount would not be possible.
