Editorial

 {short description of image}

Yet again it is with regret I have to start the editorial with the loss of one of our community. Angela was much loved throughout the whole village and our deepest condolences go out to all the family.

On a brighter note welcome to all the new arrivals in the village I hope you all have a pleasant life here as most of us have done some a lot lot longer than others. Sue and myself are just coming up to 19 years, and we are still babes here.

I haven’t put the darts page in this issue as not a lot has happened, we are still throwing the missiles though. The ladies are second in their league and the men I’m afraid have now dropped to fourth after losing again last week. We must try harder.

I’m afraid this issue has been hastily put together due to printing restrictions being imposed on us, and I must get the draft off tomorrow in time for the end of term, so please don’t give me too much hassle if my punctuation is worse than normal or the crossword has a wrong number by the clues, please bear with me just this once. Talking of crosswords come on all you clever individuals we used to have winners out there,. I know Phil in the Dyke’s End wants to give away some more wine so get to it and get the crosswords right. Surely Tony hasn’t made them that hard has he? I’m afraid this issue also does not include the Parish Notes (due to holidays) but a double issue of Parish notes will be available in the next issue of Out of Reach for you to catch up with the latest parish news.

Jazz work out starts again on Thursday September 21 in the Village Hall, and Mother & Toddler sessions start on Friday the 15th September again in the Village Hall, all who qualify are welcome to attend these events and I have been told the more the better. (See adverts and diary)

I am still waiting for some front covers to arrive for the Out of Reach, I don’t know whether you realise it or not but putting a cover on is one of the hardest jobs of this editorial job, what shall we put on this month I still don’t know yet and I have nearly got to the end of my rambling, Please help someone get drawing !

Well it is almost holiday time again and as the Neighbourhood Watch Co Ordinator I must remind you to cancel the milk and papers. Get a neighbour to keep an eye on your house and even go in and switch the lights on and off a few times at night to show your house is lived in, how about getting your neighbour to mow your lawn for you!. We had a Nottingham Knocker around the other week please make sure they have a valid Pedlar’s Certificate as issued and signed by Cambridgeshire Constabulary. (see Out of Reach March 1997 for a specimen). Last but not least watch out for the distraction burglaries make sure the person at your door is who they say they are, ask for your account number (on your bills), do not ask them for a phone number to check find it yourself, if you are in any doubt at all DO NOT LET THEM IN phone the police, a genuine person will not mind.
