Sheducation - New Build

In an effort to combat shed crime in Cambridgeshire, Cambridgeshire Police are working with shed manufacturers and have produced a set of minimum security standards for new sectional buildings.

Sheds that meet the standard will display this logo:

The standard requires:

  • Wall panels to be secured from inside the shed.

  • Windows to be fixed where possible, and fitted with galvanised grilles.

  • Doors to be fitted securely with three hinges.

  • Door to be framed, ledged and braced.

  • Door to be fitted with two pad bolts, secured with a heavy duty padlock.

  • Literature about general garden security to be supplied.

Don't be another statistic on our crime figures - support `Sheducation - New build' !

Community Safety Strategy - What do you think?

Since the Crime and Disorder Act was introduced in 1998, a number of groups have been established in Cambridgeshire to help reduce and prevent crime and disorder. These groups, called Community Safety Partnerships, produced a Strategy detailing how they intended to reduce crime and disorder.

The Strategy must be re-written every three years, to ensure that the Groups are addressing relevant issues and crime problems in their Districts. The first Strategy was published in April 1998 and the next Strategy will be published in April 2002. The Community Safety Partnerships are keen to hear from you about what priorities you think should be addressed.

The priorities included in the 1998 - 2002 Strategies for East and South Cambs are:

  • Anti-social Behaviour.

  • Substance Misuse.

  • Burglary of Peoples Homes, Sheds and Garages.

  • Vehicle Crime.

  • Violence - including domestic violence.

Are there any other types of crime that you feel should be priorities for the Community Safety Partnerships? Do you feel that the priorities above still remain the most important issues that need addressing in your area?

Please contact us and tell us your views!!
