First of all we say welcome to all the new babies in the village that have arrived since I published the last issue, 3 in all I believe. Sue & Geff Bailey, Toni & Ian Dennis and lastly Helen & Cliff Parr. Don’t forget to register them with me for the birthday page before next year. Talking of birthdays not that many in the next two months according to my records sorry if you have been missed off, but  you can blame your parents this time!

We must also welcome the older new arrivals to the village a few new families have moved in and I know some more will be arriving before the next issue.

Children in Need is nearly upon us again and I am sure that Wendy and the others who have organised the event in the past, ( I assume they will do it again) would like some help to ensure this years evening will be a roaring success, making plenty of money for this worthy cause.

The work on the War memorial has got under way and I see it now looks very clean. I have been told that it will be completed by November, lets hope it is. Thanks again to  Phil & Tessa in the pub for  their efforts in raising the necessary funds to get the job done.

The first fair meeting for the 2003 Fair is on  Wednesday 9th October at 8.00 pm in the village hall. Please go along and support the organisers as the more people involved the easy it will be, ensuring another extremely successful fair.

Last issues crossword price has gone overseas to Canada, David Prior who regular reads the Out of Reach on the internet sent in his entry, which arrived at the pub in plenty of time to be drawn with the other correct entries. David when you read this your bottle of wine is waiting for you in the pub!

As you all know by now, Mark Haworth our vicar resigned at the beginning of September and has left the area I hope you will with me wish him every success in his new chosen career.

I’m afraid this issue has shrunk a bit from the norm, but unfortunately  I have not been given much to put in, I can’t use what I haven’t got. So again I will plead for more input, let’s hope we can pump up the issue again for next time. (Copy date 15th October). I believe their is a youngster out there who wishes to write a soap, well if not a few short stories from you will do.

As usual I have run out of things to say,  other than the obvious. The nights are now drawing in,  the burglar  likes this time of year, so be aware and report anything suspicious to the police. The information you give them may be that last vital clue, that will lock up burglar Joe for Christmas. Talking of Christmas is it 50 shopping days left. It’s coming again quickly.
