Another year has passed by and we have in this small hamlet of Reach gained some notable achievements, we have had athletes in the world championships, a family of bowlers who have all been selected to play for the county team. The ladies darts team again achieved high honours, whilst as usual the men were third in their summer and winter leagues. The fair produced a bumper boost to the Village Hall funds, out doing their previous record by a long way. The Children in Need appeal went well with £450 donated to this good cause. Phil in the Dyke’s End instigated the repair of the War Memorial and the fund has almost reached a £1000. Let’s not forget the Village Magazine was Highly Commended at the Village awards early in the year. There are probably many other things which I have forgotten about, if I have, I apologise in advance and an extra well done goes to you. I feel a very successful year has been achieved by the village. Congratulations and well done. Please note the Carol singing in the Village Hall is on December 19th at 7.30 pm, I hope as last year we have a good turnout, the mulled wine (juice for those under the age) and mince pies are always an enticement to attend. - See you there! The Devil’s Dyke as you probably know is going to get a face lift. Some of their ideas seem very controversial so please keep watching “Out of Reach” for further developments/information about the project. We can then hopefully ensure what is done is in our interest as well as that of the conservationists. As published in the last issue we are looking for ideas for the Golden Jubilee next June as yet no suggestions have come forward, so please if you have any ideas get them to me or any member of the Parish Council by the next meeting (December 5th) where this issue has to be discussed. So organisation can start. Thank you. There have been a few incidents in the village of bottles being broken and the glass left in areas where people can get hurt. If you wish to drink wine or alcho-pops (if this is what they are called now) could you please at least have the decency to take the empty bottle home and not just throw it into the middle of the road. Thank you That’s me almost out of time and space, I have to get ready for tonight’s quiz night. I hope as I’m not quiz master tonight I don’t get too many questions wrong, at least I will be late as I have a darts meeting to go to, so I can always blame the rest of my team for not getting enough right before I arrived - Excuses already Team. Before I close this magazine, I am sure you will wish with me our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to Paul and Sue Tarasewicz on the loss of Paul’s mother earlier this month. Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year from my family and I. |
