It is with regret that we must say farewell to Peter and Claudia Burton who are going to live in Wales, its the hills Ive been told. Good Luck to both of you. Welcome to Mark and Karen who have moved into their old cottage in Great Lane. We hope you have a wonderful time in Reach. Welcome also to all other newcomers who have joined our small community in the last few months, including all the new staff at the Dykes End. At last the pub is open again, it has taken sometime but has been worth the wait, thanks go to all those involved from the share holders, the painters (too numerous to mention them all). Special thanks however go to Ron, Ranul, and Glen who seemed to be down the Pub a great deal over the summer months. The Dykes End is being frequented regularly and I believe some of us (including myself) have had the odd phone call from home! Lets hope this is the start of a long and happy partnership. There will not be a quiz night in December as the last Sunday in the month falls during the Christmas holiday, and as from January 2000 the quiz night will start at 7.30 pm. The letters on page 5 may cause someone to stop and think about their actions, if the cars were not blocking anyone's entrance surely there is not a problem! To be honest with you I am totally disgusted an incident like this should happen in our village, especially on such a sad occasion. It was mentioned to me recently that a child in the village was upset because their birthday had not been included in the birthday list. I can only fill the magazine with information I have been given, therefore if you want names to be included, please let me know. A note can be pushed through my letter box and I can then update my records. Talking of birthdays many happy returns to Grahame Miller for December 30th (page 25) We only had two entries for the crossword this month, I know Christmas is coming and people are getting busy, but it doesnt take that long to drop your answers in and there is a prize, of a bottle of wine to be won which is being sponsored by The Dykes End. The draw for this crossword will take place on New Years Eve, all answers in please by 6 pm on that day. It only remains for me to wish everyone a merry Christmas and prosperous New Year |

New Yeare Eve is a popular time for predicting fortunes. In Sweden, molten lead is poured into water and the shapes that are formed are used to foretell what the year holds in store. Believe it or not there are no turkeys in Turkey. |
