Daddy Girl

 Mummy why are you crying has my daddy gone far away
Has he gone to see the angels will he come back one day
Why did the big van hurry off with it’s blue flashing light
And why did it make all that noise as it drove through the night
Why did they take him away he did not kiss me goodbye
Is that what made you unhappy and made you want to cry
Will he be back for my birthday and help me cut the cake
And take me to the park again and feed the ducks on the lake
Will the angels love him just as much as you and me
And will he tell of the lovely time we spent by the sea
When I had my costume on and built castles in the sand
Then sat quietly on the grass and listened to the band
And perhaps the nice doctor man will make him well again
Maybe give him some tablets to take away his nasty pain
So mummy please don’t cry so much perhaps daddy is just asleep
And I don’t think he would be very happy if you just sit and weep
Please let me give you a great big hug and kiss away your tears
And I will look after you mummy for years and years and years
So when you meet daddy again and tell what changes we have seen
You can tell him we still love him and what a good girl I’ve been
