Reach Churchyard | |
Now that the path has been laid by John Reed and Son (and team) it is now time to think about +the last stage of the project, preparing beds and planting shrubs. The path is a fine improvement and will lead visitors around the back of the Church. Mark is to order a seat in memory of Mr. & Mrs Allan with a plaque to this effect and the grant donation by ECDC that enabled a lot of the work to proceed. We now need a weekend probably in September to start digging beds. Please put Saturday 25th September in your diaries 10.00 am if you can help. Once the beds have been dug we can choose another weekend in early October to plant up beds so that we have the beginning of a garden for the millennium. We will then need donations of plants. It was originally thought that some of the garden would contain plants donated in memory of loved ones. If funds are available it would be good to plant into mypex to keep maintenance to a minimum. I hope to visit Westcott House in Cambridge to look at their garden. Some plants we would like donated are :- Daphne Odora aureomarginata, Buddleia, Corylew avellana Cantorta, Chimonauthus paecox, Osmanthus (fragrant one), Syringa (smell medium fragrent) eg Julianae, Foxgloves, Campanula, Aqueligia, Lilies, Lavender. Any ideas for the garden contact Doreen Robinson or Mark Haworth |
