In 1201 King John granted a charter for the holding of a fair in Reach. It was originally to be held on Rogation Monday but has since been changed to the early May Bank Holiday. According to original custom, it is opened by the Mayor of Cambridge accompanied by the Aldermen in full regalia (the picture is of the 2009 opening ceremony).
If you want to know more about the history of Reach Fair please have a look through our Reach Village History pages.
The proceeds from the Fair are used to support the Reach Village Centre but also to provide some monies for the Reach Village Amenity Fund.
Reach Fair 2016 will take place on Monday 2nd May 2016 and further information will be added to this website closer to the event.
