I had to add a stop press at the bottom of my page this time so there will be less of my prattling than usual. Hurrah you say! However reading the stop press, dogs should be kept on a lead at all times. Dogs wandering the village mean a mess where we don’t want it and as mentioned below, injuries to persons riding or walking. Don’t forget a fine of £1000 can be imposed on you if your dog is the mess maker. Again I have to say welcome to the village to a few new bodies, please contact the village hall committee as soon as possible as your services are required. (Reach Fair Meeting 14th Feb in the Village Hall). I hope you all had a pleasant Christmas and New Year, now it’s time to think about the fair again this time the 801st. I see from page 21 that a publicity officer and cake stall organiser are required as soon as possible. Please contact one of the fair committee as soon as you can with your offers of help, they will be very much appreciated. Many thanks go to Mr. Maurice Moore for his fascinating article on Mrs Fanny Budden, and for supplying the photograph for this issues front cover. It’s great when people come across us and then find an article or two that they can submit to the Out of Reach, for all of us to share. Has anyone else got any old articles that have been hidden in the loft, even after Grahame has been around gathering bits for the fantastic Millennium Book. Those who have not got their copy yet please contact Grahame before he sells out. It was nice to see a good turn out for the unveiling of the plaque on the green to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the signing of the charter. If you haven’t seen the plaque yet, stand where the mayor stands to open the fair and you will find it directly behind you, about 7 feet from the ground, it really is worth a look at. Talking of looking I notice the new street lights have been turned on, they do look the part don’t they?. Well I need to get this issue off to the printers so you can have your copy at the weekend. Don’t forget the quiz night on Sunday (25th) in the pub, and get on with the crossword, if you can’t complete it then I will except half finished ones, the winner will be the nearest to completion (my decision), If required the draw will take place as usual on the quiz night in February. |

Stop Press Being just over five foot tall—it’s quite intimidating when a large and aggressive dog comes bounding towards me and my dog (who is also small). Twice in one week I have been attacked, barked at and followed by dogs such as the above. I have a scratch above my knee received from trying to protect and split up the animals. I am angered by this as I only walk on public property. Can I please ask all dog owners to take responsible action, be vigilant and please put your dogs on leads. Thank you |
