Another month to go and again Reach Fair will be upon us. I know many of you have been worried as to whether the Fair would still be on due to Foot and Mouth, I have been told on good authority that it will go ahead, I am sure that years ago when it was a horse trading fair it would have been cancelled as people would have come from farms far and wide The only thing visitors to the fair need to be made aware of is that some of the footpaths in the area are closed. I see however that one can walk from the Burwell / Swaffham road to Reach on the Dyke but it is closed if you try to walk back to the Burwell / Swaffham road. Does this virus only travel in one direction?

Again I can welcome some new residents to Reach you have just arrived in time for the fair and I am sure if you see a committee member your services will be appreciated either on the day or before hand in setting up or baking cakes etc. I will be round as usual for full bottles for the bottle stall soon so get them ready, we are out to beat last years record on the stall.

I have been asked to find out whether you as a village would like a camera to monitor the village green, this would serve two purposes, one to give us a bit of security where if an incident occurs a record can be checked as to the coming and going of vehicles in the village, and secondly a feed can be made to the web cam so we can join the band of villages on the internet who show off their villages to the world. Could you please contact me on 742884 or write me a letter letting me know your feelings on the matter so that a decision can be made as to whether you would like to go along with the idea or not. Thank you

You will be pleased to know that this year in The Village & Community Magazine Awards we went one better than reaching the finals. This year “Out of Reach” was Highly Commended, if, however we are to achieve higher honours than this, then I must have more input from the village to enlarge the issues with letters, notices and articles etc. The more I have the better “Out of Reach” will be, the trophy is there for the winning so come on lets have some more input. Anyway well done to all who contribute regularly to the magazine.

As you will see on page 9 Jeff Kemp has been asked to say a few words, he has agreed as long as his audience are there for charity it has been decided to run the evening for the Milton Hospice please come along and support the event it should be a great night. .I am sure he will have you all in stitches before the night is out. Check out page 21 the pub advert no need to go to the burger van in Burwell anymore for that evening snack Phil has decided to do burgers and baskets after nine in the pub either eat in or take away, please support this venture we can all benefit from this.

Well I’ve nearly done with my rambling especially as I have a quiz to do now for tomorrow night so please support the fair, the pub, Jeff’s night, your “Out of Reach, and don’t forget to let me know about the camera on the green. See you all at the 801st Reach Fair if not sooner.

Happy Easter
