Men’s Darts Another year of darting in Reach has passed, and yet again in the winter league we finished just above the middle of the table, and I’m afraid no trophies. However everyone performed well with a few 180’s and some large finishes. Well done all. Moving on to the summer league we managed to put two teams into the Burwell & District Summer League, with a lot of help from the ladies, who were the backbone of the ‘B’ team. Unfortunately they came bottom of the league but played some excellent darts on the way. The ‘A’ team finished third in the league behind The Five Bells and The Ex Service Club ‘A’ team. We did however win some trophies this time, both the ‘A’ team and the ‘B’ team contributing to the list below. Knockout Cup Winners Dyke’s End ‘A’ beat Ex Service ‘A’ (5 4) after a play off. Winner of the Open Individuals Mel Hills ( Dyke’s End ‘B’) Winner of the Landlords Cup Phil Vincent (Dyke’s End ‘A’) Winner of the Under 23’s Kevin Stearn (Dyke’s End ‘A’) Runner Up Under 23’s Lloyd Candy (Dyke’s End ‘B’) Winner of the Ladies Singles Jill Stearn (Dyke’s End ‘B’) Winners of the Ladies Pairs Wendy Cole & Jill Stearn (Dyke’s End ‘B’) Runner Up Landladies Tessa Vincent (Dyke’s End ‘B’) An extra trophy was awarded to Dyke’s End ‘B’ for putting a team out every week whatever the weather. A big thank you to Dave Summers who chose a team, to win the Knockout cup, and omitted himself with confidence, his gamble paid off—Phil Vincent We have joined the Newmarket & District League for this winter and have been placed in Division Three, So far we have played two matches and unfortunately have lost both 5-4. Early days yet we still have plenty of time to make a come back. Ladies Darts The sad news is that the Bottisham & District Ladies Summer League is over. The team had a very successful season again. We went into our final game leading by just the one point. We managed to win our game 3-2 and the girls at the Red Lion (Swaffham Prior) beat the team in second place 4-1. ( So thank you very much Lorraine and team) Jill Stearn won the Captains competition, Jackie Harding was runner up in he best performer and Jackie with her husband won the mixed pairs. It’s now two weeks holiday before the winter league starts again. |
