 {short description of image}

First of all I must welcome to the village all the little newcomers Daniel Knight, 6 May, Freya Thomas, 5 August, Edward Neve, 21 August, Susanna Tucker, 26 August and last but not least Alexander Coles 21 September. I must also welcome the big ones who have just arrived, I know a few of you are out there. We also extend a very special welcome to Philip Vincent who is joining our community to become the new landlord of the Dykes End. (Formerly The Kings) . We all wish him every success in his new venture.

On a much sadder note we say farewell to Alvah Aves who unexpectedly passed away in September, I am sure all of you will wish his family deepest sympathy in their sad loss as I do.

Exams have passed for another year and yet again the village children have excelled passing all their exams and either going on to further or higher education.. Well done to all of you.

Please read the articles on page 4 with reference to burglar alarms (please ensure you make key holder arrangements when you go away) and the village photograph on the 17th October the more people that turn up the more the photograph will depict true life in our village. The Neighbourhood Watch page has again had to remind people of bogus callers, yes they are around again please don’t get caught. I have added a page for your telephone numbers and account numbers. Please fill this out and place it out of site of your visitor. Use your door chain, when opening the front door and besides their identification, if they are genuine they will have your account number with them Check it. However any doubt at all phone the police, but do not let them in.

A success story for the Out of Reach last issue we published a letter from Jackie Herron in Australia trying to find her friend Gloria, well you will be pleased to know that we have found Gloria and the two have been put in touch.

You will notice that no location has yet been decided for the firework display but as soon as the venue is arranged then everyone will be informed.

I am having difficulty deciding this months front cover so can I appeal again for some more drawings from you, as the next issue will be the Christmas / Millennium Edition may be some of the youngsters could put their crayons to paper and come up with a front cover for me. As this next issue will be a very special edition how about a few stories / articles from you to add a little extra to this “Out of Reach” Don’t forget cover date 15th November.
