Bogus Callers are still around. They come in all shapes and
sizes. When answering the door always follow the KNOCK code. K NOW YOUR CALLER. Fit a door chain and /or door viewer. Use your viewer or look through a window to see who is there. Before opening the door put the chain on.N EVER ALLOW ENTRY WITHOUT IDENTIFICATION. Check the callers identity card carefully. Ask them to quote your account number.O PEN THE DOOR ONLY WHEN YOU ARE SATISFIED THAT THE CALLER IS GENUINE. If you are in any doubt ask the caller to come back later when you can have a relative or friend with you. Ring the company to check the callers identity.C ALL THE POLICE IF YOU ARE SUSPICIOUSShut and keep the door locked and dial the police. K EEP AN EYE ON ANY CALLER WHILST IN THE HOUSE.Don't leave money lying around in easy reach. Don't leave the caller alone in the room Don't hand over any cash to anyone you don't know. Don't be too worried - most callers are genuine and will recognise the need for these sensible precautions. |
